We will explore the herb gardens during Fall to see the beautiful herbs in their various stages of growth. OrchardBotanicals teachers will guide children in learning about the life cycle of the plants, and show how many of the herbs are entering their seed stage or sending their energy collected all summer down into their perennial roots. We will use our senses to experience the medicine and stories contained in these plants. We will harvest fresh herbs to make into a tasty tea, and dig down under the surface of the soil to see what is going on down in those roots, exploring the strong smells and flavors of the herbal medicine as it becomes concentrated. To top this all off, the children will work together to blend a dried herbal tea with many of the plants that we saw growing in the gardens to take home and enjoy for fall wellness. This will be an opportunity for children and adults to get to know some common pacific northwest medicinal herbs, learn about harvesting herbs during fall, and take home some fall-inspired herbal tea to enjoy. We hope to see you there!
