Everyone has a place in nature. Come join us and spend time with your child and Take Root as you grow together to be creative and curious outside, in any weather. In the spirit of an emergent-based curriculum, children and parents or caregivers will visit a rotation of parks in Bremerton where they will refine their observation skills through play, stories, songs and hikes.
The class starts with free play supplemented with a few optional activities that focus on developing fine and gross motor skills, opportunities for problem solving, and scientific observation. Free play is followed by a welcome circle and introduction to our weekly theme, and from there we move into a hike to observe our theme closer and connect with outside. After our hike we will settle down as a group for a song and story that brings us back to our theme for that day. To end our time together children can offer up any exciting discoveries they have had, and as an option they can document it in a nature journal through drawing, writing wherever their skills are at. However, if children feel more led to play, then play they shall.
Taking Root. Join us as we explore the parks that surround Dyes Inlet. Utilizing our amazing local natural resources of Bremerton City Park and Kitsap County Parks. Our themes for these sessions might seem deep for little ones but we will approach them in a broad way in order to span the ages. What do you need to deepen roots and promote growth? The four basic elements.
