Nancy moved to Bremerton in 2020 from the California desert where she was born and raised and fell in love with the welcoming and close-knit community she found here. She has a passion for education and social justice, which led her to pursue and complete a doctorate degree in Leadership for Educational Justice. Prior to earning her degree, she spent six years working as a community college counselor helping students achieve their academic and personal goals. Nancy enjoys spending time with children and recognizes the significance of nature immersion in child development. Before her career in higher education, she worked as a tutor for elementary children, provided assistance to children with autism, and facilitated parent-child engagement as a parent educator. She enjoys spending her time in nature, capturing its beauty through photographs, and indulging in activities like hiking, forest bathing, bird watching, yoga, and meditation. Nancy's aim is to visit all 63 National Parks in the US with her fiancé, Omar, and they have already visited 21 parks together!
