Hope Phaedra Hutsell
Teaching Assistant & Mentor
Hope Hutsell is a lifelong learner and non-native resident of ancestral Twana homelands in Washington State. She began to study early childhood development during high school and developed and practiced an outdoor program for preschoolers for the first time in 2008. Since then she has been enriching the wholeness of her education through dedicated studies with her own ancestral lineage, with Coast Salish languages, with traditional herbalism, as a birth doula and death doula, as a bellydance birth instructor, and has recently graduated with a BA from The Evergreen State College in the Native Pathways Program. As a mother of three, non-native advocate for tribal sovereignty curriculum, and lover of nature, Hope contributes to Barnacles & Bees Outdoor Learning curriculum as a TA while pursuing a Masters degree in Policy Administration and Tribal Governance.
