At Barnacles & Bees, our classes are 100% outdoors, regardless of weather.

Learning through play:
Our curriculum is modeled with special attention to natural, daily and seasonal rhythms, child-led exploration and observation, and inclusive community building. The heart and aim of our program is to provide a sensory rich environment where kids have more space to develop critical skills that can prepare them for focused learning in their later years. Outside in nature, a child can have more space; space to practice creative problem solving, build confidence and spatial awareness, learn to assess risk, and strengthen physical development.

Age: We serve ages 3 to 6 in a mixed learning group at Illahee State Park and Belfair State Park (new Fall '23), and ages 3-4 and 5-8 in a Preschooler and Kinder program at Wetlands Nature Preserve.
